ATTENTION ZEHRS AND SUPERSTORE WORKERS AND CUSTOMERS

ATTENTION ALL ZEHRS AND SUPERSTORE WORKERS....even though we all work at different stores we are fighting as a united union for the same contract issues to be resolved! It saddens me to see all the negativity in the media and on the internet right now due to few random employees getting frustrated or upset with customers crossing the picket line. I understand it is upsetting seeing regular and non regular customers cross our lines BUT it doesn't mean we have to treat them without respect. Even though loblaws is treating us unfairly our customers shouldn't have to pay the toll....when they come in our store we are expected to be courteous, kind and empathetic, why should that change because we are on strike !? If we should get mad towards anyone it should be Loblaws not them!!! Those few bad seeds that are giving Zehrs and our Superstore employees a bad name ..please stop. If you can't control your temper please don't directly deal with the customers...or we're going to end up with no more loyal customers at any of our stores. Don't spoil it for the employees who are just trying to feed our families and make a living or get their way through school. We need to stand together through this or we'll fall appart together. Lets hope we rise not crash.

Please respect the customers and customers please try and respect us on our picket line. We are trying to do whats right for our families and provide for them which like many of you are trying to do as well. Thank you for reading..

Racism Lives On

Since I didn't want to cross the picket line at Superstore today, I decided to go to the Fresh Co on Tecumseh in the plaza across Kennedy high school. It was a little before 4:30 when I was getting into my car that these girls in a creamy colour 300 vehicle started throwing racial slurs and chanting "Hello ching chong" at me. I was born in Windsor as were all my siblings. I worked in that same plaza as I was going through high school. I guess I was too shocked to say anything and when had made eye contact with them, they just laughed. I have never felt so disappointed.

Upset husband

My wife is a manager at one of the Loblaw stores, she's been working non stop all day long since the strike started,we have very small children and they miss her very much. They don't even get a kiss goodnight at bed time. She's putting in long hours.I was off today and decided to visit my wife with the kids for lunch, hoped to steal a few minutes alone with her and the kids. When I got there the picketers didn't know who I am but were fast to berale me in front of my little children. Both of my kids asked me "why are they mad at you Daddy?" When we were leaving the store they were scared to come out. I did bring this to a store manager's attention and it will be dealt with once you all get back to work. Now think for one second, will there be a need for the workers anymore at these stores after this is all done and settled after you have mistreated all the customers out there. You are still THE FACE of this company and you are there to work with public, share nice smiles and hellos and thank yous. After all this customers will turn back on all of us involved in this company thanks to your professional and dignified behaviour. My wife has worked there for many many years and worked her way up into the management position which is non unionized. That position is a hard working one just as much and if it's not worse than any unionized bcz there's so much expectation and extra time she has to put in without being paid for that time.Today she had 5 minutes to sit down with her children! Five minutes to exchange some hugs and kisses before she was called back to work again on the floor. This unfortunate strike is affecting everyone in a very negative way.Strikers, managers, families and customers. I ended up buying groceries there even it was my initial intention but this company feeds my kids and we're fortunate we have jobs in this unfortunate world we live in right now.

Amazing Service

We just wanted to spot a sales associate at LaSenza in the Devonshire Mall food court for her excellent customer service skills. She was so helpful, honest and caring and ontop of it all, she is fasting. We overheard her talking to another associate about Ramadan and our mind was blown. Although she had nothing to eat or drink the entire day, she was still humble, joyful and caring. My grand daughter and I are forever grateful to have met this young lady, because seeing her commitment to her job and customers was truly a blessing. It's rare to get customer service anywhere these days.

Ramadan karim to you young lady! We hope you see this!! Keep it up and we'll be back soon

Strike

Two weeks ago I ordered a cake for my sisters birthday from the superstore.
Sadly on Monday our father passed away unexpected so obviously my family is going through a lot. In attempts to make the best of my sister birthday I promised I'd still pick up her cake and we'd spend the time just the two of us trying to make sense of the loss.
I was running late with my kids and all I wanted was to get the cake and get to my sister, thankfully even with the strike going on it was promised by the store it would be ready for me.
After coming out with the cake a women picketing decided it was a good time to make me feel bad for shopping there. She was extremely rude claiming that I didn't care about the people as I was still shopping there and I needed to start showing some support. She was demeaning and continued her rant louder and louder as I walked away.
Im sorry you guys are unhappy with your employer and I wish all employees were treated better but you still had no right to be so rude to a complete stranger.

I was already on a boarder line break down and then having to listen to you pushed me over the edge.
I'm aware you don't know everyone's personal situation, but my point is there are so many other ways you could have positively gotten your point across without being so mean.

To the Zehrs shoppers not crossing picket lines.

Firstly I would like thank you for not crossing the picket lines. Secondly, I work at Metro and I would like to thank all our regular customers and all the Zehrs customers for your patience, kindness and understanding. As prepared as we try to be, these few days have been a little overwhelming. You have shown 100% understanding, thanking us and smiling even when we could not provide exactly what you were looking for. We will continue to try and serve you to the best of our ability. And a shout out to Zehrs employees, stay strong!
