We were at the Michigan Diner On Mothers Day, and while the visit wasn't the best, as it was extremely busy and I don't think the kitchen could keep up for their first Mothers Day at this location. This employee, who was running around and clearing tables, needs to be spotted. As soon as a table cleared, he was on it. As soon as he noticed my plate and others, being finished and off to the side, he ran over and offered to take it. Amazing work ethnic was noted this day. Keep up the good work. The diner benefited from you greatly that night.
This is a very delayed post;
A few months back, after a night of celebrating (drinks), I woke up to realize that my purse was missing. Luckily my wallet wasn't in there, however, my son's iPad was. My son was devastated... And I was beyond angry with myself for being so irresponsible. I called everywhere I could think of, but nobody had found it.
I had taken several cabs that night, and had come to the conclusion that I must of left it behind during one of the trips. After talking about it with ppl at work and discussing the possible scenarios (next customer finding it, how many ppl would actually report it, or would return it with the iPad still in there, etc) I was beginning to suspect that I would never see it again. A couple days later, I came home from work, checked the mail, and in my mailbox was a small handwritten card that said "I am cab driver. Pls call me. Ian #######" with a phone number written down. I called, and he told me that he believed he had something that belonged to me. I was his last customer that night, and he had been off for a couple days... Took his cab into the car wash that morning and he found the purse tucked underneath the seat. He drove back to my house that night and delivered my purse, iPad and all in tact!
Out of all the ppl I told about the missing iPad, nobody believed I would ever see it again. Faith in humanity was restored for several ppl that night. Thank you Ian @ Vet Cab! You have been spotted.
Today I was asked by the Welcome Centre For Women, to help facilitate bags for families who find themselves homeless. These kids bags will be filled with colouring books, kids books, puzzles, crayons, little toys like mcdonalds toys and almost anything else you can imagine for young kids who have nothing.
I posted up in a couple groups on fb and within minutes I had ten messages, within an hour I had 25 messages.
I am overwhelmed with glee to see how generous our community is and how willing they are to help these kids. Kids who through no fault of their own find themselves in a place they don't call home.
These bags will provide comfort, activity and hopefully make them feel like someone cares about them.
While at Rosati Park in LaSalle this afternoon, my 4-year-old son was enjoying watching some much older boys play a pretty competitive game of soccer. However, when he said he wanted to play also, my heart sank because I feared they would reject him and crush his spirit. After about 15 minutes of attempting to go up and ask them if he could play, he finally got the courage...and had a blast. The boys made a big effort to include him, letting him score and not getting frustrated when he started running the wrong direction with high fives all around. I want to thank those boys for giving this little guy a great example of what sports and camaraderie are all about, and also their parents, for that is where I imagine their sportsmanship first developed. I am hopeful that their outpouring on my son will help him grow to do the same for those around him.
Today my faith in humanity was restored. I was in a very big hurry while at a TD Canada Trust drive-thru. I was distracted by the fact that envelopes are no longer needed to deposit cheques. "Hmmm... this is something new," I thought. Anyway, the machine rejected my cheque, as the screen stated that the cheque couldn't be "read". I still needed cash to give to my son for his very first trip out of town on his own, and I was running behind schedule. I took out the money, but in my rush to go inside to find out why the cheque was rejected, I completely forgot to grab the money from the machine! When I discovered that I didn't have the money in my wallet, I returned to the bank to check the drive thru machine but nothing was there. What are the chances that someone returned the money? I went inside to find out, and sure enough someone had returned the cash to the teller. Wow! That made my day! A kind and honest person had returned my son's spending money for his trip! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your honesty is very much appreciated, and I will certainly Pay it Forward. Beautiful person YOU have been Spotted!
We live by the Walker Homesite Park & in the last couple of weeks have seen a few dead/ poisoned rats. This evening one of the poor things wandered, very slowly, up our neighbours walk. God bless the Windsor Human society, they came right out & helped capture the poor thing so he didn't die under the house & alone in agony due to the poison. Now, and really important, are the children who play there, as well as the people who walk their dogs in the park, there are (or were) rabbits, birds, cats etc....that use the park. So if your walking in Walker Homesite Park with your pets, or even your children, be very careful, especially along the east fenceline, between the parking lot & going south.
I know this is probably a long shot, and quite possibly borderline pathetic, but perhaps if this is shared on facebook I may have some luck.. And in the case that this is a complete waste of time, I'm saved from embarrassment due to lack of identity.
Soo, I had a rather long wait in the ER at met hospital today. I spent nearly 8 hours reading/ staring at my feet. Until I had the good fortune of checking out(truthfully it was unashamed staring) a sinfully attractive, young, tall, brown haired dr/ nurse whose name, I believe, is Jordan/ Jamie. Being absolutely pathetic, I couldn't look away. Hopefully I didn't creep you out haha If you are by chance reading this I just wanted to say thank you, you unknowingly made my slightly miserable wait a bit less rough.
& heck, since I'm already out on a limb here, if you are reading this you should leave a comment, I'd love to have a coffee break with you sometime..
Signed,
The slightly pathetic girl in the Detroit cap :)
