Awesome service!

Just wanted to give a quick shout out to our waitress Nicole at Eastside Marios last night. I haven't experienced such wonderful service in a long long time. Her commitment to flawless service with a smile and radiating happiness brightened up our day no end. Thank you for being so attentive & sorry about the bruschetta thing :)

Rules of the Road

Mr Macho Man in the black pick up on Martin Lane this morning at 8:20 AM:

The speed limit on that street is 50. I am so very sorry if my driving 50, offended you somehow. If you are late, then next time try leaving earlier.

The solid yellow line down the middle of any road, denotes that there is NO PASSING. Again, if you are offended by other drivers following the rules of the road, that is too bad. Stopping at the stop sign and refusing to move whilt hanging out the window screaming at me, shows a little bit of road rage there. I did honk the horn at you, to remind you that you broke not 1 but 2 laws by passing me on that street.

There are many young children that live on that street, and were waiting for the bus at that time. You racing about puts their lives in danger. It makes me wonder if you hit one of them, would you stick around??

If you don't know the rules of the road, time for a refresher big guy. I am offended by your tearing about down my street like you are king of the road. By the way, my daughter did take a photo of your licence plate on her cell phone. We will be turning that into the WPD :) I hope you have a terrific day!!

Lost Family Cat

Our family cat has gotten out of the house.
Some time between late evening Saturday, January 23, 2016, and Sunday, January 24, 2016 our cat Hank got out of the house. He is a male, grey, short-haired cat that is approximately 1 1/ 2 - 2 yrs old. He has been neutered, chipped, and has all his claws. Hank is probably very scared because he has never been outside, but is generally very friendly. We live in the Riverside area, and hope someone has seen him and can help us get him back home. Our family missed him dearly, along with his two sisters, who he has been with since birth. Please spread so bring Hank back home!

Train Station Gentlemen - Sunday Night

This past Sunday, Jan 25th I had returned from Toronto with my 15 month old by train - the last train of the day, arriving at 11:20pm. It was cold, my daughter is HUGE for her age (26lbs, and not yet walking) and my husband had walked 40 minutes to meet me and help us and our things (diaper bag, stroller, etc) into a cab.

As many know, cabs are in short supply at the train station and by the time we made it to the cab stand, they were all full, mostly university students, single riders... I was exhausted from having her in my arms for 5 hours, my husband had worked all day and so we grudgingly joined the queue for the next car. A few people had noticed us struggling as I had called to cab drivers to "Please radio for more cars, there are lots of us!".

When a single woman went to take the next cab, a group of men, much further back in the line called to her, "C'mon, be nice, let the lady with the kid go!" Which was quickly echoed by people in the line "yeah", and "have a heart!". I called out a thank you to everyone as she very reluctantly gave us the cab.

It sounds silly, but as someone who routinely lets others in front of me at the grocery store, or waves a car through ahead of me at an intersection, it felt wonderful to be recognized as someone needing help. When I put my little girl down tonight, I realized I have to thank those random guys who stuck up for my family last night. You all warmed my heart that my daughter gets to grow up in a town where humanity is still alive and well. And to the lady who had to wait a few more minutes, I do appreciate you putting yourself out, and for us, it meant a LOT.

Cell Phone at St. Clair College

I was at the Health Science Building today and someone left their cellphone on one of the seats. If you see this your phone is at the security desk at St. Clair College.
