Met Pediatric Nurses!

My daughter is 15 months.
Within these last two weeks she had to stay in the hospital for four days.
RSV got her pretty damn good. She wasn't eating or drinking. While we were up on peads the nurses up there were FANTASTIC.
They made my daughter feel like home.. Made us feel like home.
Even thought four days may not sound like alot. While you're stuck in a room with a 15 month old in quarantine, it's a loonnnnng stay. Lol

My daughter had Denise, Stefanie and another lady as her nurse.
You ladies deserve a pat on the back. A high five and a hug!!! You were fantastic with my daughter.
THANK YOU!

Lock your car doors!

2am Saturday morning our dog woke us up barking at the front door. My husband looked out our bedroom window and saw a man standing next to my car in our driveway looking at our house. We both ran to the front door and yelled at him, he just stood there and tried telling us he was lost, I told him cops were on their way and slammed the door. Who knows if he was trying to break in my car or our house. We live in the riverside area off of Cedarview, be careful...make sure everything is locked!

Mommies who understand!

I wanted to "spot" the 2 mommies at the TMC walk in clinic/ pharmacy on Sunday Feb 21st. I got there with my children after church and settled in for my son to see the doctor. My kiddos were hungry and we went to the pharmacy to try and find a snack. After looking for something relatively healthy, we headed up to the till only to find that the debit machine was down. I had to tell my kids that we'd have to wait until after we saw the doctor. A couple of seconds after we sat back down in the waiting room, a woman came over from the pharmacy and handed me 2 packages of fruit gummies and 2 bear paw bars! She said that we've all been there and she had these in her purse. I couldn't thank her enough! Not 30 seconds later, another woman walked over to me and offered me a new bottle of water! I was stunned! Thank you from the bottom of my Mommy heart!

Please stop asking.

To the several people that always ask why aren't you in school or what no school today or make rude remarks when they see my kids and I out in public during the daytime, please stop. It is gotten to the point where cashiers will hound my children about why they're not in school. My children will not answer you. They have been taught that they don't have the answer strangers when they ask personal questions. They have been taught to say hello to strangers when said hello to, but not to go with strangers, to answer personal questions I went and out to ask mom or dad if they're allowed to talk to that person. We do that for their safety.

Just because you work in retail or are nosy customer does not give you the right to demand an answer out of my child. When I politely say to you they won't answer you because they've been instructed not to and you treat them poorly, it just goes to show your true character. It affirms to them why we should be careful who we talk to. Don't get me wrong, my kids are encouraged to be social people and are social people. They would likely tell you our whole life history in about 2.5 seconds but have been instructed not to.

It's pretty sad that adult can't see that they're being rude. Yet, my children ask me why that lady or why that man, was so rude. It happened again this morning. We got out to the deli to grab some lunch meat and instead of asking us directly, the lady snickered to the cashier behind our back what no school today and a snotty tone. I said nothing I just walked out of the store with my lunch meat. I say to you now, politely, it is none of your business. It is no one's business why my children are not in school, just like it's not my business why your not in children are in school, if they were not.
We homeschool our children. Sometimes, that includes outings. Sometimes, that includes visits to the park. Sometimes, that includes visits to the theater. Sometimes, and means leaving the house.

Please stop pressuring children to answer your curiosity. Truthfully, it is none of your business. To make children feel like they're doing something wrong when they aren't is an unfair pressure to put on a child. Try to remember that not every family fits the cookie cutter mold that society has put in place. There are thousands of families in Windsor Essex that homeschool.

Thank you.

Aggressive Doberman in Tecumseh Dog Park

On Saturday Feb. 20th, we took our puppy Romeo to one of our regular spots, Tecumseh Dog Park. We had only just started our walk when a Doberman ran up to Romeo from behind, snarling and biting at his back. As we were right there, we were able to grab Romeo and block the Doberman, and removed Romeo to a safe distance. The Doberman dropped back a few steps on the path, and moments later we heard the same snarling and racket as the Doberman attacked another dog. This was not playing. The Doberman was snarling and clearly attacking. There was a bit of a melee of people behind us so we didn't see exactly how it was broken up, but we were quite shaken and started to walk quickly to get away from the group. As I collected my thoughts, I told my husband I was going to talk to the woman who owned the Doberman as we felt very unsafe. I was hoping she would leash her dog, and said to her, Ma'am, I don't think your dog should be in here , she got belligerent and strode right up behind us with her 2 dogs. As she was denying the attack, my husband spoke up too, as is all evident on the video I took (thank goodness I had my cell with me as it was a gorgeous day and I wanted to film the dogs romping in the spring sunshine), and she began cuss and overtake us with her 2 dogs on the path. As the argument went on, her Doberman again attacked Romeo, again, caught on camera. The woman continued ranting and raving and eventually moved off putting distance between us. We saw her dog being unruly and aggressive across the park and in the short time we remained there, she leashed and unleashed him a few times. Romeo was quite badly shaken and stayed by us the most of the remaining time we were there, only venturing to play with one other dog before we left. We saw the Doberman attack yet one other dog before she left and we left, so the attack on Romeo was not an isolated incident. I don't know about the Tecumseh Park, but at Optimist Memorial Dog Park where we often go, there are clear rules posted that should a dog owner request another dog owner to leash or remove their dog, that request should be fulfilled. It's going to be a while before we are comfortable taking Romeo back to Tecumseh Dog Park. Just a heads up to other dog owners.
