The best community

Today at around 4 pm on manning road near Kozy restaurant, I got into a horrible accident. Roads were slippery and the oncoming car swerved into me in what looked like an attempt to avoid hitting the car in front of them. Both cars spun oppositely across the lanes and we all had difficulty getting out of our smashed cars. With assistance we all got out, before the other car went up in flames. A man in an orange vest came out to help, check on everyone's health, and tried to keep us all calm while 911 was called. He stayed on the scene until they arrived. Another man with an army green hat insisted I wait in his warm blue car until the cops arrived, and said he felt like it was his duty to stay and make sure everyone was okay because he was first aid certified. Another man in a blue sweater also stayed and asked the family in the other car to stay in his car to keep warm until the paramedics came, also coming to check up on me. There was an overwhelming amount of kindness from complete strangers during a time of shock and I was so grateful. I'm so sorry for not getting anyone's names that helped- but you have been spotted. Thank you!
Special shout out to OPP, EMS and windsor fire for their quick response- this community is lucky to have you.

Super Thoughtful Stroll Out With The Kids!

Sunday afternoon we were driving our truck down the 3300 Block of McKay and saw a man pulling a wagon with a couple little kids. One was picking up something across the street and stopped while we approached. We waved this little 5 year old in front of our truck.
"They're picking up garbage" my boyfriend says with a smile.
I thought what a great deed. Take the kids for a nice stroll and show them that they can do a good deed and help their neighbourhood look cleaner.
They had a pile of garbage in their wagon too! Maybe this post will inspire someone to do the same and have an onlooker like us drive away in awe of their kindness.

Still good people in this world

Want to give a BIG THANK YOU to the man at Lowe's today he picked up my husbands cell phone and tried calling us before handing it in!! We pulled up and my phone started to ring!
Thank you so much I was freaking out because I just spent a crap ton of money at Lowe's and all I could think of is I'd have to return this stuff to get him and new phone.
Thank you again!!!

Thank you!

I just wanted to spot Andrew at the Walmart (Dougall location) Vision Center. As long as Andrew is working there, I'll never get a pair of glasses from anywhere else. He was professional but down to earth. Didn't try to sell me on anything that I didn't want/ need. I always have someone with me to help me choose, and this time around, it was a bit of an emergency, and I needed them A.S.A.P., so I had to go alone. If a pair was a little too big, in the nicest possible way, he let me know that, and suggested another pair. One of the 2 pairs that I purchased (had to get 2 because the prices were absolutely amazing) were one of the first that he chose to have me try on. He just knew! Lol. Andrew, you were wonderful, and I appreciate the assistance. Thanks so much! I LOVE my glasses! And the fact that it didn't break the bank! AND that they were expected to come in between 5-7 days, and came in 2. There was nothing about the entire experience that wasn't perfect. Again, ty, ty, ty!

A+ Care

On January 19th I came to the emergency room at Windsor Regional Hospital Ouellette Campus, after 11pm.
I was seen by a kind and caring RN - Pam, who took excellent care of me while I waited for a place inside the ER. I would like to thank you Pam, for your excellent attention and prompt care!! Shout out also to Dr Varsava and Dr Sweden!! And of course, all of the other staff who took care of me that night🙂
YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!

THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS

I would like to thank two gentlemen who came to my assistance today at the Zehr's - Parkway Mall. I had taken advantage of the fact that wild birdseed and Gatorade was on sale, and that there was no tax (yay!) so I filled up my cart with LOADS of the stuff - only to find that when I was nearing the checkouts my cart wheels suddenly locked up. One man kindly dragged the heavy cart to the checkout for me; and another chap left his own cart at the checkout, went and got me a new cart, and then proceeded to lift the heavy items into the new cart. You are both a star!!

Thank you to E.R. staff

Recently, I was at the E.R. at WRH- Ouellette Campus; I can't remember when the waiting area was so crowded.
Some people were grumbling and complaining, demanding to get in sooner, leaving, etc. I couldn't help but think that while my problem was serious enough that I was sent from Urgent Care to the hospital I at least wasn't in distress.
As I, with many other people waited, we could hear the announcments of Code blue, code stoke, over and over. There were people that were violent, others who were argumentive who had to be separated. There was someone who wanted to leave unless she could see the doctor within the next hour. Security as well as a nurse told her that they had several accidents, a lot of really sick people and patiently asked her to stay. They told her that if she wanted to leave, it was her right but, she had to sign a release without being seen form.
At one point before a serious accident was brought in, a nurse inquired if she had enough time to go to the bathroom.

My thanks to all those working at E.R. who work so hard, take abuse, laugh and cry and are just as frustrated as patients and families. Thank you to the security folks, clerks who register and direct people, cleaning staff who were constantly being paged to clean up, porters who brought people for tests, and rooms upon admission, those technicians who draw blood, take xrays, ultra sound and CT scans, nursing staff and the doctors. I hope I didn't miss anyone. They work long hours, many times without breaks.
Your dedication is to be admired.

Act of Kindness

I'd like to say thank you to the gentleman in the F150 Grey Truck for his random act of kindness. Friday Jan19th I was at a Tim Horton's drive though next to Howard Johnson Hotel on Ouellette . When I came up to the drive through window to pick up my coffee, the lady told me "the gentleman before you paid for your coffee". You really made my day!! and I would like to thank you so much whoever you are :)
