It's Sunday morning and I don't like to make a fuss, BUT, the drivers in Windsor are terrible. We can't change our roads but we can change the way we drive and we MUST influence others.
At the corner of Jefferson & Tecumseh, around 8:30 am, a shiny, black convertible Camaro pulled beside me at the stoplight; I was heading south on Jefferson. His first mistake was to pull up on the outside lane with no idea he was now preventing a string of cars behind him from making right hand turns. That's his prerogative, inconsiderate but not illegal. I knew he was sending the message he thought he was too good to wait in line with the rest of us. I got the message he was going to race me across Tecumseh; he was so anxious to go he almost started going when the turning light flashed. The good news was that he realized he had been blocking several cars wanting to turn right. Once across Tecumseh Rd, he drove the speed limit. I just laughed at the poor, small minded fool. When we passed the abandoned police station, he decided to put the accelerator to the floor. Again, I laughed at him when I caught up to him at the red light at Jefferson & Quality Way. The light turned green and he drove like an idiot, getting the car to go as fast as it could. He wasn't getting on the expressway, so I tried to let go of the negativity. I laughed one final time thinking of how big a fool he is to drive in that fashion, in a flashy car with vanity plates. So, if you know a bearded gentleman that owns a black, convertible camaro with vanity plates, let them know he has been reported to Road Watch. Then ask him why he drives like he owns the road.
I thought that it would be smooth sailing now, I had encountered my idiot for today. I was proven wrong. Just past Central Avenue, as the expressway becomes two lanes again, the lady driving in the right hand lane decided the expressway was also a garbage can. While I'm pulling beside her, in the outside lane, she threw out a cigarette butt (hitting my closed passenger window), a drink cup and various other paper garbage. WTF?? Stop asking why the city doesn't clean up and correct your behaviour! If my passenger window had been down, the cigarette butt was in my car. It was a light blue, Ford Escape with magnetic ribbons on the back hatch. Sadly, she didn't have personalized plates.
We can do better, we deserve better. Somebody out there knows these people, plus more, that drive in arrogant & dangerous ways. Our roads aren't as bad as our drivers. Let's fix this!
To the man in the white polo and navy shorts crossing at Greenpark and Riverside at 7:56 pm Sept 1st.
I was in a white suv.
On the ganatchio trail all pedestrians and cyclists and others do NOT have the right of way while crossing the intersections they all have stops signs posted on the poles. So there was no need to give me the what's up arms and stare me down like you were wrong done by. YOU sir ran a stop sign as I was driving safe.
I am an avid user of the trail both on foot and by bicycle. I stop at every intersection to make sure it is safe because the trail has the stop sign not the road.
Just like any normal intersection in the city if the light is red or there is a stop sign pedestrians and the like must stop. Would you barrel across Wyandotte expecting all the cars just to stop for you because you are on foot. I expect not, I think you'd most likely wait for it to be clear to cross.
Hoping you read this and try obeying the rules of the road.
To the female driver in a black SUV parked by a grey SUV in the parking lot between the Cineplex and The Bay (@ Devonshire Mall) on Tuesday, August 30th, you have been SPOTTED by mall surveillance for what you think you got away with that evening. As you tried to park in the spot next to my vehicle, you "accidentally" swiped the left side leaving a good (and expensive!) amount of damage (a fairly large dent and scratches about 3 feet in length). Once parked, you made your way through the entrance--and, giving you the benefit of the doubt, maybe you attempted to find the owner of the vehicle. Camera footage proves the opposite. As you were leaving, you decide to check for damage on both vehicles and proceed to get in your car and drive off. Thank you. Thank you for reminding me of how karma runs its course to those who "do bad unto others". And a friendly reminder for you, my friend, when blame diminishes, guilt increases. Luckily for you, your plate couldn't be read, but Windsor police have been notified. So next time, please make sure you at least pass your parking tests or don't park at all, especially near stationed objects.
Unfortunately there is no end to the depravity of some people in this city. On Friday evening I was with my best friend at his office setting up for my stag party and doing some photography. We left the building at around 10pm, put a bunch of photography equipment in the back room and locked up both front and back doors. We returned around 3am to find the back door had been kicked in and all of my equipment had been stolen along with a monitor and a router.
This happened between Friday 1030pm and 3am Saturday the 27th at 950 Ottawa street between the autoshop and gas station and parent, across the street from 7/ 11
If anyone has any information please contact me by email, or the police. The case number is 2016-61967. If you were the perpetrator, and if you return the items to me I will forego pressing charges.
Well apparently the thieves are at it again..This time bundles of shingles stolen from our yard...I'm just so fed up by this behavior. Warning people that live between Giles and Tecumseh rd .Dougal and McDougal.. our area is being hit hard. They take anything not tied down..including plants.
We are lucky as we have a neighbor who witnessed the incident and we are in process of meeting with the police...
Just please watch all your valuables..
On Monday, August 29 around 4:45, I witnessed a "bump" on the expressway. It happened where traffic is merging, due to construction, at Central Avenue. A big pickup (I took a picture) was anxious to merge, and in his attempts he hit the back left part of the car in front of him and bounced right off. It was a little blue car; I think a Mazda but I'm unsure. Both cars did keep moving. If they had stopped, it would have been a nightmare.
If the driver of that little blue car needs a witness or the license plate of the pickup that hit him, please leave a message and we'll connect somehow.
Just so everybody is aware that there are two young little punks (one of them with very curly blond hair) who are out to steal bicycles in Leamington. Little did they know they couldn't get away with mine and took off running. So make sure you lock yours up or at least have an eye on it!
