Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings all around the world
ok i rarely post "bad" spottings and i'm sure we are all sick of the bad traffic/ driver rants.
but this is an issue i see regularly... and progressively getting worse.
so while i stopped and sat patiently through an entire green light today at ouellette and tecumseh intersection (as did the lane that pulled up beside me and the cars behind us, etc), I watched in awe as an ambulance came down the hill, sirens on and lights flashing only to be forced to stop. and wait. and wait some more.
people, i'm not sure what they taught u in drivers ed.. but the bright lights, sirens and additional blaring of the "get the heck out of the way!" horn they have means (wait for it) MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!!! you all looked so dumbstruck like u had never encountered an ambulance before. one lady in a silver minivan (front of line of course) managed unsuccessfully to pull up two feet before she threw up her hands in bewilderment, not knowing what to do. and so, they all sat there until the light turned green (i'm talking they sat through the left lane turning light and everything, ambulance still blaring it's horn). the ambulance finally managed to slip into the left turning lane (after everyone else had already turned) and proceed through the intersection while everyone else was still trying to figure out what they should do, still stopped, their light now green.
im starting to think ambulances should be equipped with one of those snow plow scoops on the front for people who can't be bothered to move over. we held the intersection for you, the way was clear, what more did you need?
it's nice that we stop and wait and pull over for funeral processions.. i've always liked that about windsor.. but could we maybe not wait until the person needs a funeral and get out of the way while they can still be saved??
just a thought..
red light or not, if the intersection is holding for u and is clear, get out of their way! it could literally make all the difference in someone's life.
On Saturday morning about 3:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Dougall someone broke into my father's car. The front window was smashed and the driver's door was damaged. My father is elderly and has nothing worth stealing but is so stressed and upset about this. If anyone happened to see anything please contact the police. If not, just beware.
My husband was hit in our vehicle at the corner of Grand Marais and Howard this morning around 6:00am by a dark blue Chevy Cobalt or Pontiac G6. We would appreciate if anyone who saw it happen could come forward with information, or if the person who hit him would claim responsibility.
To every single high school kid on the 1c about 750am yesterday and today, your parents should be ashamed of you. Two days in a row I got onto a full bus with three young kids and not one of you offered up you seat for them, instead you watched as I struggled to make them hold the bars and not fall. An older woman offered her seat to them, for which I politely declined, because my children, unlike you, will learn the social "food chain" lets call it. The kicker is even after that women set an example and offered her seat all of you just sat there and did nothing. You should all be ashamed of youselves, I was no where near perfect as a teenager, but ill tell you one thing, my parents definitely taught me to have respect for others.
On Friday September 2, 2016, at approximately 1:00pm, there was an accident on Ambassador at Industrial, near Thunder Road Harley Davidson, between a motorcycle and a car. On Wyandotte St. after 7 pm. a van of teen boys travelling east just at Pillette opened up the passenger sliding door and threw a can of pop at a cyclists tires. A couple of blocks later the door opens again and a hand reaches out toward another cyclist and he yells something out. At this point I followed the van and they sped up through the streets of Riverside, not stopping at signs but barely slowing down flying through the stop signs. Finally they turned onto a deadend street, I pulled into the house across the road and they backed up and took off. Spoke to the people sitting out there and they thought the van was going to go driving right through the fence. Obviously this van was a parents van and the kids were out joy riding and driving dangerously. If these were my kids I would want to know they were being irresponsible and causing safety concerns for the public. The van was a green grand caravan with a pink magnet on the back that said princess on board drive safely.
To the guy in the red shorts and black tank top at Sobeys this morning around 9:30am - you acted like a 2 year old. The cashier didn't realize you didn't have a cart when she told you you didn't need to lift the cases on the counter, you then proceeded to get angry and threw both cases on the ground with bottles going everywhere. You're probably around 40, yet I know children that have more respect than you.
To the young punk thieves that have been in the area of pillette and surrounding streets. You have stolen from hardworking people and entered the homes of elderly and stolen from them. We will catch you our mailman is very observant and has kept his eye on you guys. You should be ashamed of yourselves for stooping so low to steal from others. We have a great neighborhood watch in our area and won't take long until your caught. Go out and get a job and do something with your life other than taking from those who have worked hard. Karma will get you if we don't get you
