good samaritian

Today at the Tim Hortons at Wyandotte and Lauzon, my husband who has Parkinson was trying to walk into the store and could barley walk. A young gentleman came to help him, asked him what he was getting, went into the store , purchased his coffee with his own money and brought it outside to him. It is nice to see we have such wonderful people here in Windsor.

My take on the French's ketcup debate

I keep seeing posts and hearing conversations about French's ketchup being Canadian. From what I can tell, the only Canadian part would be the tomatoes, which is good. But, buying only French's will not help increase our jobs at all. It will increase the American jobs.
If you want 100% Canadian then look at E.D. Smith. They use Ontario tomatoes, Ontario workers and everything is produced here. Utopia is another 100% Canadian ketchup maker.
If we increase sales on these, then the need for tomatoes will increase, as will the need for more workers.
Thus is just my view but in the end it's probably the taste of the ketchup that will win.

2 young girls stopped to help an injured squirrel

Tonight around 4:15pm there were 2 highschool aged girls sitting on the side of the road with a box and an injured squirrel.

I went home and got some gloves and a blanket and went back. The girls said that they had already called the humane society and had been waiting a long time for them to show up.
One of them used the gloves and carefully picked him up and placed him in the box and covered him with the blanket.

Thankfully the humane society employee arrived and was very apologetic for taking so long. He explained that he had a very busy 12 hour day and got there as soon as he could.

I wanted to spot those two girls for taking the time to sit on the cold, wet road to keep the squirrel from crawling out into the road and getting hurt. I am sure more than a few people walked passed and didn't give it another thought.

I also wanted to spot the guy from the humane society who thanklessly helps animals in our community. He mentioned he had to assist with many cases involving dogs today.

Thank you all for your thoughtfulness.

Consoling strangers

I'd just like to take a moment to write about what happened to me today. Today at the mall while grabbing some similac for my son I was verbally attacked by someone who is supposed to care for and love him. She came up to me spouting all kinds of nonsense about how I was the reason her and her husband don't have a good relationship with my sons father, That I'm lying about who the father of my son is which is insane since we have been in a committed relationship for 4 years and saying she just wanted to make it clear who was at fault. She made me cry my eyes out in a room full of strangers. This is where my story gets more positive. While I was crying my eyes out multiple stranger came up to me to console me, give me hugs, tell me not to worry about someone who would cause such an incident in a public place. These strangers told me I was beautiful and my son was beautiful and we were better off without this hateful monster of a woman in our life and the man who would choose her over his family. These strangers were right, and I want to thank every single one of them for having my back today especially the wonderful woman who let me use her phone and the man and woman who talked me out of a full blown panic attack on the bus going home. You are all the angels I needed today. And to you, crazy, controlling, witch of a woman. Thank you for showing me how strong I can be.

There was no baby in the car, but if there had been...

Today my husband and I went to the medical centre at Howard and Lens. When we got in our car and were about to leave, a fire truck with lights flashing pulled up. A firefighter came up to us and asked that we allow him to look in our car - someone had reported that a baby may have been left unattended in a vehicle. I purchased a small table yesterday, put it in the back seat and covered it with a blanket (so that if it tilted toward the window it would be protected). I just have to comment that I appreciate the concern other people have for the safety of children (and pets), truly. I believe that whoever reported this did the right thing - your instincts could very well have been on target and you would have been helping a child in need.

WONDERFUL staff at CMR healthcare (Howard)

Just would like to thank the staff at CMR health care ( ultrasound laboratory) for their wonderful customer service and for being so accommodating to all families and their situations.

This job is not all fun and games , they see things that are not always good and they have to remain as professional as possible not to show the patient what they are seeing. That is a hard thing to do. People normally think of ultrasounds as baby related but there are many reasons for an ultrasound and some dont have a good outcome for the patient. Their staff is professional and friendly and put you at ease.

We were there this week for an anatomy ultrasound for our 5th child. They were friendly and professional. We want our children to be very involved in our pregnancy and we brought them with us. I warned them before hand they may not be able to come in the room as the rooms are small and its not the "norm" to have so many children in the room. Not once did we get any weird looks or comments and all our children were welcomed into the room and made to feel special and part of this amazing experience. Thank you very much especially to Daniella who was very thorough and accommodating to our needs and how we wanted to reveal our baby's gender.
