On Friday afternoon I was at Costco when my 4 year old granddaughter suddenly went limp and lost consciousness. When I ran to the front of the store with her in my arms and yelled for someone to call 911, customer Todd Dupuis, who is CPR and Safety trained, immediately came to my aid and the staff at Costco immediately sprang into action. One employee called 911. Other employees directed us to a medical room with a bed and another employee calmed my 8 year old granddaughter, who was terrified. Costco employees were stationed at each entrance to get the ambulance to us as quickly as possible. By this time, my 4 year old granddaughter was going in and out of consciousness. A huge Thank You to Todd Dupuis for knowing what to do and keeping her engaged until EMS arrived. A big Thank You to the EMS gentleman who arrived first, attended to her and told us she was going to be okay. A big Thank You to the two Paramedics who attended to her and took her to the hospital in the ambulance. I couldn't go in the ambulance with her because I had my other granddaughter with me. They knew she was scared going in the ambulance without me and made the ambulance ride sound like it was going to be a great adventure. And last, but definitely not least, a big Thank You to my 8 year old granddaughter. Once the Costco employee calmed her down, she was able to answer questions from the Paramedics and EMS that I couldn't answer. She answered the questions so well and so calmly that one of the Paramedics asked her if she had ever thought of becoming a doctor, which put a big smile on her face.
Thank you to everyone with all my heart. I wish I knew all your names so I could Spot each one of you personally.
I know it's kind of a late post but last Saturday January 14th we got some help from a young lady who works at the dollar tree on walker road. What happened was we were on our way to dinner with 2 daughters for my oldest daughters birthday 14 on the 14th. While my daughter was choosing her spot to eat, my van decided to act up and died in the A& W parking lot. None of the people from A& W would help and I wasn't helping the situation for I was upset because I felt like I ruined my daughters birthday. Well my husband was out looking for help he went into the dollar tree and the young woman ran to help us and saved my daughters birthday dinner. Unfortunately I didn't catch her name because I was so upset but Thank you soo much you restored my faith in humanity and showed my daughters that angels are sent in a time of need. My daughter may have not gotten the dinner she wanted due to my vehicle acting up but she did learn a valuable lesson!! Thank you Sooo much
I just want to give a big thank you to the gentleman today with the gold dodge nitro at the shell gas station on Dougall & Norfolk. My car was stuck inside the car wash due to a faulty electrical problem for over an hour. He hurried over to help out as soon as he seen that I was stuck and offered help. He also went to purchase jumper cables at a nearby store to try & jump start my vehicle. Unfortunately it did not work after trying for 20 minutes & the towing company had to tow it out of the car wash (this was tricky lol), but nonetheless you are a kind person & you were very helpful in this situation. I am fortunate for you being there. Also to the other two gentlemen helping out afterwards, thank you as well for your considerable help.
Friday night around 8pm I was leaving from work out of the metro parking lot and someone behind me in a white car was flashing there lights at me. I thought it was an accident so I kept driving. They did it a couple more times but I didn't want to pull over as it was dark & I had just had my windows tinted the previous day so I couldn't roll them down... I finally realized my lights weren't on.. they must have turned off the setting while it was in being serviced. To the person who tried to warn me, THANK YOU & Im sorry for ignoring your signals.. it was not intentional.
While at Devonshire mall food court an older woman was in distress, two young woman , whom I identified as nurses took control and probably saved this elderly woman's life!!! Fantastic ladies!!! God bless you for your service. I am certain the woman's daughter was grateful.
To the man who stopped his car at the busy corner of Goyeau and Erie. (on wednesday) and got out to assist a man in a wheelchair who was struggling to get across the street and pushed him all the way to safety up on the sidewalk...WAY TO GO...YOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED!
It was an extremely long day at that point, we had logged 12 hours in the ER between two people in two days. He was small and hooked to an IV pole convinced if it was removed that his arm was going to fall off. You were there when it was put in and he screamed like he was being tortured by feral cats. He begged them to leave it in, take it home, to begin life with the IV pole. In his head it wasn't coming off, ever. He claimed the arm no longer worked that he has a "sad puncher arm" that he could only give "one handed hugs" and his love of Minecraft was finished because his now hooked up arm had ended his career. We got transferred to the TC chairs, from a nice comfy bed, he cried. Then promptly fell asleep exclaiming "don't touch my arm" as he wholeheartedly wagged his little finger at anyone who came close. You were kind hearted, first offered your seat to move over, so we could sit together. Then we met you, the teller of jokes with the golf ball sized elbow and a smile for days that makes everyone else smile because you just have too. The fist bump was nice, he liked that. We talked about you long after you left and your begotten elbow of doom. I've assured him it’s going to grow back, that you’re really a super hero with awesome regrowing powers. To the nice lady, with her mom who had a broken finger but ended up in the full arm cast, he loved you too it made the night go by easier. From one tired mom to another, I get you, more than you can ever understand. As we stand on the front line with our children.
And finally to the last woman standing as they removed her IV and she went home with her mom. Thank you, thank you for showing him that life didn't end when they took it out. That your arm, although in a cast, stayed on. Because life at six is hard enough, If only. #autismtimes
To the most amazing staff at Met ER, thank you. Although he screamed, it was short. But in the end, I explained to him that your superhero capes were just at the cleaners. Your squeaky hospital shoes and magical stethoscopes made life better for loads of people that night.
